The Soccer 4 Kids Youth Development Academy was launched in 2003 and provides a high level of professional coaching to our most talented players. Attendance at the academy is by invitation only with the majority of players coming through our Development Centre system. Players may also be invited to attend a trial period at the academy if they have been recommended to us or one of our coaches has spotted them playing for their school or club team. The academy is based at St Marys High School in Astley near Leigh and currently has eight age groups from under 6s through to under 13s.
The academy is aimed at players who have the ability, drive and determination to succeed. We will work with you to improve your all round ability, technique and fitness. We combine top quality academy standard coaching with the mental attitude aspects that are becoming increasingly important in the modern game. We also have experts who will provide you with the correct advise about sports nutrition and how to look after your body inside and out.
We run teams in local leagues at most age groups although players who attend our academy who currently play for a club can continue to do so. We have links with most of the local Pro Clubs and scouts are invited on a regular basis to our coaching sessions and matches.
The success of our academy is measured in two ways, firstly we aim to produce as many players as possible good enough to move onto the next level i.e. a pro club academy or centre of excellence and secondly if our teams are successful then it shows us that we are producing good quality players who are able to prove their talents in a competitive environment.
Over the past few years we have had many players signed on by Pro Clubs in the under 9s and above groups and we currently have several younger players training with academies and centres of excellence. Our teams have also picked up many trophies over the past few seasons so our academy system clearly works.
